Workout Journal Notes
What a load off! It’s “Light Load” week in “Maximum Strength” which allows for an active recovery after last week’s “Very High Load” and before beginning Phase 2 next week.
While the weights were still challenging, it was a bit of a relief to do so fewer total reps and sets, not to mention the saved time.
I set a new personal best on Hanging Straight-Leg Raises by only one rep, but those things are tough!
Tomorrow is going to be a bit of a “two-a-day,” because I’ve got my regular workout in the morning, then I’m going to go train with Paul, the Saturday speed camp trainer.
The sessions I’ve been going to on Saturday are open to everyone, but there’s usually about 4-6 older people there (not OLD, old, but 30’s-early 40’s, etc.).
That’s not to say that even a couple of the old-timers are in fantastic shape, plus there’s always the 15-year-old Bionic Boy who runs 2 miles in 10 minutes.
But, on Tuesdays, the same trainer works with younger athletes and apparently pushes them even harder.
He invited me a few weeks ago to drop by and try out one of the Tuesday workouts, and this week is my best opportunity, since it’s “Light Load” week in Maximum Strength.
This will also mean that I’ve got Wednesday completely off which will be nice, and probably sorely needed after whatever he puts us through tomorrow!
