Running in the Rain, Feeling Like Rocky Balboa

You can follow my daily updates here on Geek2Freak, and you can follow my overall weekly recaps every Sunday at FitBuff.com.

Also, for my daily updates from before this blog was born, check here: Personal Daily Workout Log (June 4, 2007 - July 17, 2008).

(I recommend perusing October 2007 and the following several weeks, as those were especially turbulent times, including major jaw surgery, being wired shut, and losing nearly 20 pounds in 7 days!)

Ahh, yes, what could be better than running in the rain? Well, running when it’s not raining comes to mind.

But, sometimes you don’t have much choice. Sure, I’ve could have just hit (or HIIT) the exercise bike, but nothing beats true HIIT sprints.

I headed up to the park, and the field was a disaster, as I had imagined. Luckily, the gravel track was still dry enough to sustain my weight without swallowing me whole.

It was pouring on the way there, but it had slowed to a drizzle by now.

I did some warm-ups for about 10 minutes, then I did 4 100-yard sprints, with walk-backs in between.

I usually do shorter sprints across the width of the field, but the track runs length-wise, and I like to mix it up anyway to keep things fresh and interesting, so my body is always adapting.

Normally, I would have also done 6-8 total intervals, but with this being “Very High Load” week in “Maximum Strength”, I figured it was best to just get in a quick and relatively low-load workout to finish off a challenging week.

I’m looking forward to seeing how my dietary adjustments will affect my measurements tomorrow.

I compacted my carbs so they fit tighter into my post-exercise window, and I’m hoping to see some body composition improvements, without much total weight loss, if any.

Check back tomorrow for the results!
