Workout Journal Notes

Welcome to the Red Carpet Premier Post of Geek2Freak.com!

After I realized that my previous daily updates had attracted over 13,000 views, I figured it was time to develop a whole new site to use as a permanent workout journal.

This will make it easier to subscribe to the RSS feed and follow my daily updates, instead of everything being crammed into that one forum thread.

I’ll be leaving the forum thread there, since it covers over a year’s worth of workouts, including the always exciting and dreadful surgery period.

Check out the logs from the end of October 2007 through the next several weeks to watch me literally melt away while my jaw was wired shut!

Enough of the intro, on to today’s workout notes:

This is my second week of doing HIIT outside with real-world sprints, as opposed to using the exercise bike, which I’ve been doing for the past several months.

I love sprints more and more each time I do them, mainly because there is less and less discomfort as my body adapts to the new, more grueling routine.

I blasted through the first 4 intervals, then wavered slightly down the stretch, but I still finished all 8 intervals as planned.

I also do a series of dynamic stretches and cross-field warm-ups before and after the sprints.

For example, I did 10 forward walking lunges, then 10 backward, then about 10 yards of butt-kicks, followed by 10 yards of high knees, and finished off with power skips.

Tomorrow is Heavy Load Friday, and I may reintroduce deadlifts tomorrow which I’ve been avoiding for far too long, so check back to see if I chickened out or not!

Also, let me know how you like the new site, all comments and suggestions are welcome.
