Workout Journal Notes

Whew! Today was a tough one!

This is “Very High Intensity” week, and it lived up to its name more than ever today, as my legs were torched with one exercise after another.

One difference is that I’m finally hitting some challenging weights after getting more and more familiar with each exercise.

I still finished every rep and will even be increasing the load again next week, but the margin is shrinking.

That’s good though, because the harder I push my muscles, the harder they respond!

My schedule was running a bit tight again today, so I did a quick warm-up for the second time in one week.

I hate to skip out on so many warm-up exercises again, but it’s one of those momentum building things after I skipped through on Monday, so I’ve got to break out of it and make time for the full warm-up every time!

With the increased reps, sets, and weights, my legs were hosed by the end of the workout.

Even though Glute Ham Raises are still heavily assisted with my bounce off the floor, I’m starting to get more control on the lowering portion.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I could barely squeak out a few at a time, so I’m pleased with my improvement there.

But, again, by the second and third set, my Glutes and Hams were on fire and didn’t feel like Raising anything!

I also did Hanging Straight-Leg Raises again, so I can feel like the Olympians on the rings. Those guys are unbelievable and one of the most impressive events at the Games.

I’d be curious to know how many Leg Raises they could do, probably about 100!

Tomorrow is the last day of “Very High Intensity” week, so that will be exciting. I’ll probably have a little extra energy, since I know the lowest intensity week is right around the corner.
